President’s Message
Neil S Yeston, M.D., President NESS

We could not have asked for a more beautiful setting, classic Pine State weather, coupled with memorable friendship and science at our annual meeting at the Samoset Resort, Penobscot Bay. And, how special it was to be back in Maine after all of these years! Your Executive Committee has been hard at work not only planning for our next annual meeting in Hartford, CT., but in addition, planning for our Centennial Celebration in 2016. In addition, our newly named New England Scholars Foundation saw donations in 2012 grow by 161% over the previous year! More...

Last week I woke up to 12 below zero at our South Burlington home. Once again I realized our weather in New England is quite variable. Our Patriots couldn’t quite make it to the Super Bowl this year, we now can focus our sporting thoughts on the Bruins and Celtics. Spring training is around the corner and tickets for Red Sox games are now on sale. It is hard to believe one can look for summertime baseball tickets when at the same time you are snowblowing your driveway for the 3rd time in twenty four hours. Another springtime activity to look forward to is the 20th Annual Surgical Resident and Fellow Research Presentation. The event will be held on Friday, May 3, 2012 at the Save the Bay Center on Narragansett Bay in Providence, Rhode Island. The program is always excellent, it is an opportunity for NESS members to support our future New England surgeons, and it fulfills the NESS attendance requirement!
