We are well into the summer and are also well into our preparations for this year’s Annual Meeting. At this point, we are well ahead in registration numbers for any of the prior 5 years and Maine looks like it is going to be a well-deserved hit for our members. The Program Committee has finished its final arrangements for new specialty sessions, focused forums and the development of our panel discussion. The Supreme Court has ruled on the Affordable Care Act and now the hard work comes to follow the timeline for its implementation. All good news, however, for the next few months we have to suffer through the difficult task of determining what is credible and helpful in the debate around the opportunities that lay before us. Previously known as the Charitable Foundation, the newly renamed New England Surgical Society Scholars Foundation was established in 1985 and is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization.
Mission Statement: The Scholars Foundation exists to provide financial support to enhance the clinical and educational opportunities of the membership of the NESS in their efforts to strengthen the discipline of surgery in New England.
