Summer is finally here in New England! I hope this column finds you enjoying this wonderful time of the year. When the polar vortex was in full swing this winter and the temperature here in Vermont was well below zero, I imagined the warm days of summer. Well, those days have arrived. We live in such a wonderful part of our country. We drive from one to several hours and find such treasures as above tree line hiking, lake and ocean beaches, quaint New England towns, and all the activities in a busy metropolitan city. More...

Strategic Planning as the NESS Moves Toward Its Centennial
The New England Surgical Society is rapidly approaching its Centennial. The organization is robust and thriving. Membership is strong and the quality of the meeting both socially and academically is high. As such, the Executive Committee thought that a fresh look at the Society was in order. To that end, a substantial portion of the June 2014 Executive Committee meeting was devoted to strategic planning. Prior to this meeting, a conference call was held with Executive Committee members under the age of 55 to set an agenda for moving forward. NESS Annual Meeting
Join us for the NESS' 95th Annual Meeting, September 12-14, 2014, at the Stowe Mountain Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. An exciting program has been assembled including stimulating scientific sessions, 40 featured poster presentations, a panel discussion, networking social events, award presentations, and a 5K Fun Run through the grounds of the scenic Stowe Mountain Lodge area. The NESS Scholars Foundation is thrilled by the number of Scholars Research Grant submissions received in the award's inaugural year.
